Ohrid Marathon in Ohrid
Ohrid Marathon is an umbrella name covering two distinct annual events on Lake Ohrid: the Ohrid Swimming Marathon, a 30km open-water swim from Sveti Naum to Ohrid harbor held since 1992, and the International Athletic Marathon Ohrid, a 30km road race held each September 8, Macedonian Independence Day, along the lake's hilly shoreline.
Lake Ohrid, one of Europe's oldest and deepest lakes, has hosted competitive long-distance swimming since 1952, when the first Ohrid Swimming Marathon was contested along its waters.
