The Lofotr Viking Festival takes place at the Lofotr Viking Museum in Borg, Lofoten, built around a reconstructed 83-meter Viking Age chieftain's longhouse, the largest such building ever excavated in Norway. The site was discovered in 1981 by a farmer and amateur archaeologist, excavated through the late 1980s, and opened as a museum in 1995.
