Lofoten International Chamber Music Festival in Lofoten
The Lofoten International Chamber Music Festival brings world-class classical musicians to the Lofoten archipelago, staging concerts inside historic wooden churches, cultural houses and even an outdoor stage in Trollfjord. Founded in 2004 by violinist Arvid Engegard and festival director Knut Kirkesaether, it calls itself the world's northernmost chamber music festival, and now alternates years with its sister Lofoten Piano Festival.
In 2004, violinist Arvid Engegard and organizer Knut Kirkesaether set out to bring serious chamber music to a place that, by their own account, did not own a single concert grand piano at the time.
