The story

Bergtattfestivalen in Luster

Bergtattfestivalen is an indie, electronic, and folk music festival held each July at Ekservollen on the Lustrafjord in Luster, western Norway. Started as a 2019 pilot that sold out within a second of public launch, it spreads across six distinctive stages, including an eight-hundred-year-old church and a cattle barn turned nightclub.

A group of friends in Luster, a rural municipality on the Lustrafjord in western Norway, tried something in the summer of 2019 that had no guarantee of working: a small pilot music festival at a farm called Ekservollen, built around the idea that the fjord and its surroundings deserved to be a real part of the show, not just scenery.

What is special

The part that makes it specific.

01

The place changes

The festival's six venues are its real signature: a main shoreline stage on the Lustrafjord, an outdoor culture stage, a nightclub inside a century-old cattle barn called Bergheim, a tented club called Hagen, a scenic stage 360 meters above the fjord on a cabin terrace at Berge farm, and an intimate stage inside Dale Church, an active place of worship built roughly eight hundred years ago

02

The mystery stays covered

After launching as a pilot in 2019 and selling out immediately, it was cancelled for two pandemic years, during which organizers kept momentum with a mini-concert series in Oslo that continues today

03

The city starts moving

By 2023 it was named Norway's fourth-best festival by the magazine Natt&Dag, and UK outlet Clash called its sense of place worth experiencing at least once

What moves first

Living ritual

The festival draws on Luster's setting along the Lustrafjord and its historic Dale Church to root a contemporary music lineup in a specific sense of place

Water and renewal

Living ritual

pairing new Norwegian music with genuinely old local landmarks rather than treating the venues as neutral backdrops
