Oslo World in Oslo
Oslo World is Norway's premier festival for global music, presenting artists from Asia, Africa and Latin America across multiple venues throughout Oslo each year. Founded in 1994 as the Nordic collaboration Verden i Norden, it took its current name in 2002 as it grew independent of its founding partners. Since 2012 it has operated as its own foundation, no longer tied to Rikskonsertene.
Oslo World began in 1994 not as an Oslo event at all but as a Nordic-wide venture called Verden i Norden, World in the North, bringing together partners from across the Nordic countries to present music from beyond Scandinavia's own borders.
