Northern Lights Festival Tromso in Tromso
The Northern Lights Festival (Nordlysfestivalen) is an annual music and arts festival in Tromso, held over roughly ten days in late January and early February, timed to the polar night and the return of daylight. Founded in 1987, it programs contemporary, classical, world, folk and jazz music alongside dance and theatre, and each year awards the Nordlysprisen to a North Norwegian artist.
The Northern Lights Festival was established in 1987 in Tromso, a university city some 350 kilometres north of the Arctic Circle where the sun does not rise at all for several weeks around midwinter.
