Tromso Jazz Festival in Tromso
Tromso Jazz Festival is an annual summer jazz festival held in and around Tromso each August. Founded in 2006 as the winter festival Barentsjazz, it ran nine years in the November polar night before relaunching as a summer event in 2016, and now presents Nordic and international jazz across venues in the Arctic city.
Tromso Jazz Festival began life in 2006 under a different name and in a different season: Barentsjazz, or the Tromso International Jazz Festival, founded by Eirik Braein Gikling and staged annually in late November, deliberately timed to the descent of the polar night over Northern Norway.
