Al Bashayer Camel Racing Festival in Adam
Al Bashayer Camel Racing Festival is an annual six-day camel racing event at the Al Bashayer racetrack in the wilayat of Adam, Al Dakhiliyah Governorate. Now in its ninth edition, it draws camel owners, trainers and racers from across Oman and the Gulf Cooperation Council states to compete in dozens of races celebrating one of Oman's oldest sporting traditions.
Long before oil revenue reshaped Oman's economy, camels defined how people in the interior moved, traded and measured wealth, and racing them was never purely recreation: a fast camel signalled a strong bloodline, a skilled trainer and a family's standing within its tribe.
