The Jabal Akhdar Rose Festival marks the start of the annual damask rose harvest on Oman's Green Mountain each year around March 30. Organised by Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, it celebrates the mountain rose as both an agricultural product and a heritage symbol through a rose trail, exhibitions, workshops and a photography competition across the plateau's terraced villages.

Every spring, before the heat of the Omani day sets in, farmers on Jabal Akhdar climb out to terraced fields built into the mountainside centuries ago and begin picking damask roses by hand, working fast because the blooms lose their fragrance once the sun is fully up.
