Babusar Polo Festival in Babusar/Chilas
The Babusar Polo Cup Festival is an August event held at Babusar Pass, one of the highest polo grounds in the world at roughly 13,800 feet, where teams from across Gilgit-Baltistan compete on a naturally formed alpine field near Chilas, organized by the region's tourism department.
Few sporting venues anywhere claim the kind of geographic superlative that Babusar Pass can: a naturally level, grass-covered plain sitting at close to 13,800 feet, high enough to rank among the highest polo grounds in the world, formed not by construction but by the pass's own topography where the Kaghan Valley route meets the Thak Nala descent toward Chilas on the Karakoram Highway.
