Broghil Festival in Broghil Valley
The Broghil Festival is a two-day gathering held each July on the high plateau of Broghil Valley in Upper Chitral, near the Wakhan Corridor at roughly 13,000 feet. District authorities organize it to showcase the sports, food and crafts of the valley's Wakhi and Kyrgyz herding communities, one of the most remote festival settings anywhere in Pakistan.
High above the tree line, where the Hindu Kush folds into the Pamir and the borders of Pakistan, Afghanistan and Tajikistan nearly touch, the Broghil Valley opens into a plateau scattered with glacial lakes.
