Shah Rukn-e-Alam Urs in Multan

The Urs of Shah Rukn-e-Alam, held in the Islamic month of Jumada al-Thani, draws more than 100,000 visitors to his Tughluq-era tomb in Multan, one of the earliest and most architecturally significant shrines in the subcontinent, for three days of collective prayer, qawwali, and dhikr beneath its landmark octagonal dome.

Shah Rukn-ud-din Alam Abul Fateh, remembered as Shah Rukn-e-Alam, was born in Multan in 1251, the grandson of the Suhrawardi Sufi master Bahauddin Zakariya, and went on to become one of the most venerated spiritual figures of his own generation across the Punjab and Sindh region.
