Thal Desert Rally and Cultural Festival in Muzaffargarh/Layyah
The Thal Desert Rally and Cultural Festival is a Punjab government off-road motorsport event through the Thal Desert of Muzaffargarh, Kot Addu, and Layyah, launched in 2016 in response to demand following the Cholistan Jeep Rally's success. Its 2025 edition, the tenth, covered a 200-kilometre route alongside tent pegging, horse and camel dances, and stage performances.
When the Government of Punjab organized the first Thal Jeep Rally between the districts of Muzaffargarh and Layyah in 2016, it was responding directly to a demand that had built up among local residents who had watched the Cholistan Jeep Rally, held in the desert near Bahawalpur, grow into one of the province's most popular annual events.
