Sibi Mela in Sibi
Sibi Mela, formally the Horse and Cattle Show Sibi, is Balochistan's signature annual fair, held in the desert town of Sibi since 1885 under British administrator Robert Sandeman. The multi-day event combines a livestock market and breed competitions with tent pegging, camel races, tribal handicraft displays, and folk performances.
Sibi sits in a low, flat stretch of Balochistan known for some of the highest temperatures recorded anywhere in Pakistan, an unlikely setting, on the face of it, for one of the country's oldest and most enduring annual fairs.
