Swat Summer Festival in Swat
The Swat Summer Festival is the umbrella name for the week-long July or August event centered in Kalam and Mahodand, launched in 2010 by the Pakistan Army and Swat Hotels Association to rebuild tourism after the valley's militancy years, later handed to the provincial tourism department.
For three years starting in 2007, Swat's tourism economy effectively shut down as militancy took hold of the valley that Pakistanis had long nicknamed the Switzerland of the East.
