What is special

The part that makes it specific.

01

The place changes

The festival is an offshoot of Al Kamandjati's core mission: teaching classical music to children in refugee camps and villages across the West Bank, Gaza, and southern Lebanon, work that earned the association a Prince Claus Award from the Netherlands in 2006

02

The mystery stays covered

Coverage of the festival describes visiting artists gathering in Palestine specifically to perform in and draw attention to neglected villages and historic sites rather than only in major venues

03

The city starts moving

Founder Ramzi Aburedwan, who was photographed as a child throwing a stone during the first intifada, is the subject of Sandy Tolan's 2015 book Children of the Stone and the documentaries Its Not a Gun and Just Play, giving the festival a documented backstory tied directly to one musician's biography
