Transchaco Rally in Boqueron/Chaco route
Organized by the Turismo y Automovil Club Paraguayo, the Transchaco Rally is a long-running off-road rally that crosses Paraguay's Gran Chaco region, including Boqueron department, testing drivers against dust, heat, and rough terrain, and has drawn enough scale and scrutiny over the years to attract both major press coverage and environmental permitting disputes.
The Gran Chaco covers roughly two-thirds of Paraguay's territory but holds only a small fraction of its population, a vast, hot, thinly settled scrubland that stands in sharp contrast to the greener, more populated eastern part of the country.
