Festival de la Estacion in Maciel

Festival de la Estacion is a folkloric and cultural celebration held each April on the grounds of Maciel's former railway station in Caazapa department, Paraguay. Running since 2012, the free open-air event gathers national folk musicians and dancers to mark the anniversary of the district's founding, drawing visitors from Caazapa and neighboring communities to the historic rail grounds.

In the department of Caazapa, in Paraguay's interior, the small district of Maciel holds onto a piece of infrastructure most of the country has left behind: a railway station that stopped mattering to national transportation decades ago but never stopped mattering to the town.
