The Chiaraje is a ritual battle held on a highland plain in Canas province, Cusco, where community members from neighboring Andean regions engage in traditional combat believed to honor Pachamama and settle territorial disputes.

On a windswept plain straddling the boundary of Cusco's Canas province and neighboring Puno region, comuneros from rival Andean communities gather each year for the Chiaraje, one of the best-documented surviving examples of ritual combat in the Peruvian Andes.
