Panagbenga Festival in Baguio
Panagbenga is Baguio City's month-long flower festival held around February, featuring a Grand Float Parade of flower-covered floats and a street dance competition, celebrating the mountain city's flower-growing industry and its recovery after a major 1990 earthquake that badly damaged the surrounding Cordillera highland region of northern Luzon.
Panagbenga was established in the years following the July 1990 Luzon earthquake, which caused severe damage in Baguio City and across northern Luzon, as a deliberate civic effort to help the city recover economically and emotionally by giving residents and visitors a reason to return and celebrate.
