Bambanti Festival is Isabela province's January agricultural thanksgiving, named for the Ilocano word for scarecrow, featuring giant scarecrow installations built by all 34 municipalities alongside street dancing, costume competitions, and cuisine contests at the provincial capitol. The week-long celebration culminates in a grand finale at Bambanti Village, where towns compete for prizes judged on their scarecrow craftsmanship.

In the rice and corn fields of Isabela, farmers have long planted bambanti, human-shaped figures made of sticks, sacks, and dried stalks, in the middle of their crops to frighten away birds and other pests.
