Lemlunay Festival in Lake Sebu

Every third week of September, Lake Sebu in South Cotabato hosts Lemlunay, the T'boli Tribal Festival, named for the T'boli concept of a paradise afterlife, bringing together six tribes for gong music, ritual dances, and abaca weaving demonstrations. The name refers to the T'boli concept of a golden age, a paradise-like afterlife destination.

For the T'boli people of Lake Sebu, Lemlunay names an idea rather than a place fixed in ordinary geography: a golden age, a paradise destination reached after this life, something close in spirit to a Camelot that the community aspires to recreate in its present-day life together.
