Kaamulan Festival in Malaybalay/Bukidnon
Kaamulan Festival, held in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon, is described as the only ethnic-origin festival of its kind in the Philippines, gathering the province's seven indigenous tribes, including the Bukidnon, Higaonon and Talaandig, for traditional rituals, ceremonies and several weeks of shared cultural programming across the cool highland province.
Bukidnon province, on the highland plateau of north-central Mindanao, is home to seven distinct indigenous tribal groups, the Bukidnon, Higaonon, Talaandig, Manobo, Matigsalug, Tigwahanon and Umayamnon, each with its own customs, language variations and social structure, and Kaamulan Festival was established to bring these communities together in a shared celebration centered on Malaybalay City, the provincial capital.
