Ammungan Festival in Nueva Vizcaya
Ammungan Festival is Nueva Vizcaya's provincial founding anniversary celebration held around May 19 to 24, its Gaddang name meaning coming together, uniting the province's indigenous and migrant communities through street dance, floats, art exhibits, and concerts. The modern festival grew out of an earlier Ilocano thanksgiving observance called Panagyaman, first held in 1986.
Nueva Vizcaya sits in a transitional zone between the Cordillera highlands and the lowland plains of the Cagayan Valley, and its population reflects that geography: Gaddang, Ifugao, Ikalahan or Kalanguya, and Ibaloi communities share the province with Ilocano and other lowland settlers who migrated there over generations.
