Sinukwan Festival in Pampanga

Sinukwan Festival is Pampanga's week-long December celebration honoring Aring Sinukwan, the ancient Kapampangan deity of the mountain and harvest, held in the City of San Fernando with a street dance parade set to the folk song Atin Cu Pung Singsing. Founded in 1997 to help the province recover after the Mount Pinatubo eruption, it now draws competing contingents from towns across Pampanga each December.

Long before Spanish colonization, the Kapampangan people of Central Luzon told stories of Aring Sinukwan, a giant deity said to dwell on Mount Arayat who governed the harvest, hunting, and the fertility of the land.
