Coconut Festival in San Pablo

Coconut Festival is San Pablo City, Laguna's week-long January celebration honoring patron Saint Paul the First Hermit, first held in 1996 with street dancers wearing costumes made from coconut tree parts, inspired directly by Bacolod's MassKara Festival. The inaugural celebration coincided with the 400th anniversary of the founding of the local parish in 1596.

San Pablo City in Laguna has long built its economy and identity around the coconut, a crop so central to the area's agriculture that it is often described locally, as elsewhere in the Philippines, as the Tree of Life for the sheer breadth of its uses, from food and drink to building materials and craft goods.
