Meguyaya Festival in Upi
Meguyaya Festival, Teduray for thanksgiving, is a harvest and unity celebration held in Upi, Maguindanao from December 14 to 22, launched in 2003 to strengthen harmony among Teduray, Maguindanaon, and Christian settler communities. It features the Fatalimud elders' gathering and the Maisan Na corn-harvest feast.
Upi, a municipality in what is now Maguindanao del Norte, has long been shared by three distinct communities: the indigenous Teduray, Muslim Maguindanaon settlers, and Christian migrant families, a mix that in earlier decades produced real inter-ethnic tension across much of this part of Mindanao.
