The story

Brave Festival Wroclaw in Wroclaw

Brave Festival, subtitled Against Cultural Exile, is an annual Wroclaw event launched in 2005 by the Song of the Goat Theatre Association. It invites musicians, ritual performers and theater artists from endangered or marginalized traditions worldwide, using concerts, workshops and film to protect cultures at risk of disappearing.

In 2005, the Song of the Goat Theatre Association, a Wroclaw-based company known for its physical, ritual-inflected performance style, launched a festival built around a specific and unusual mission: finding and presenting cultural traditions at risk of being lost, then giving them a public stage in Poland.

What is special

The part that makes it specific.

01

The place changes

Founded and directed by Grzegorz Bral, the festival has built each edition around a theme, drawing performers such as Malian griots, Zanzibari taarab musicians, Congolese pygmy polyphonic singers, and companies of blind, deaf or disabled actors and dancers, treating art as a tool for social change rather than entertainment alone

02

The mystery stays covered

Ticket revenue is directed to ROKPA, an international charity supporting humanitarian work in Tibet, tying the festival's cultural mission to a concrete humanitarian cause

03

The city starts moving

In 2011, Brave Festival was included in the official Cultural Programme of the Polish EU Presidency, recognition of its standing among Poland's cyclical cultural events
