The story

NOS Alive in Oeiras

NOS Alive is one of Portugal's largest music festivals, held each July at the Passeio Marítimo de Algés on the Tagus riverside in Oeiras, near Lisbon. Running since 2007 under the name Optimus Alive before its current NOS branding, it is organized by the promoter Everything Is New and spans three nights of rock, pop and alternative headliners.

NOS Alive occupies a stretch of Lisbon's riverside that most visitors to the city never see: the Passeio Marítimo de Algés, a promenade in the municipality of Oeiras where the Tagus widens toward the Atlantic.

What is special

The part that makes it specific.

01

The place changes

NOS Alive's location sets it apart from most large European festivals: the Passeio Marítimo de Algés sits directly on the Tagus river estuary, giving audiences an open waterfront view alongside the main stages rather than an inland field or fairground

02

The mystery stays covered

Organized continuously by Everything Is New since 2007, aside from pandemic-era cancellations, it has built a reputation for booking major international rock and pop acts alongside strong Portuguese representation, drawing an international festival crowd to Lisbon each July

03

The city starts moving

Its scale and consistency have made it a fixture on the European summer festival circuit, comparable in booking ambition to larger festivals elsewhere on the continent despite Portugal's smaller domestic market
