Festa do Avante in Seixal/Amora
Festa do Avante is the Portuguese Communist Party's annual three-day gathering at Quinta da Atalaia in Amora, Seixal, held on the first weekend of September. Founded in 1976 after decades of party clandestinity, it combines concerts, political debates, sports, and regional food stalls run by local party branches, drawing well over 100,000 visitors from across Portugal and abroad each year.
Festa do Avante began in 1976, only two years after the Carnation Revolution ended nearly five decades of dictatorship in Portugal.
