FMM Sines in Sines
FMM Sines, the Festival Musicas do Mundo, is Portugal's largest world-music festival, organized by Sines municipality every July since 1999. Staged on a historic castle stage and a beachfront avenue stage in Vasco da Gama's birthplace, it draws performers from more than thirty countries across four continents each year, backed by craft markets and packed terrace bars.
Sines is best known in Portuguese history as the birthplace of Vasco da Gama, the navigator whose voyages opened Europe's sea route to India.
