Souq Waqif Flower Festival in Souq Waqif

Jointly organized by Souq Waqif administration and the Ministry of Municipality's Agricultural Affairs Department, the Flower Festival takes over the souq's western square each December, bringing around 24 Qatari farms and nurseries together with large decorative installations built from as many as 100,000 individual cut flowers.

Doha's climate, blisteringly hot for much of the year with only a brief cool season, makes gardening a genuinely seasonal pursuit rather than a year-round hobby, and December's arrival of tolerable outdoor temperatures has become the natural moment for the city's horticultural trade to go public.
