Chelyabinsk Ilmensky Festival in Ilmeny

The Ilmensky Festival of Author's Song has run annually near Miass, Chelyabinsk Oblast, since 1973, drawing bards and audiences to Lake Ilmen and, since 2015, to the Solnechnaya Dolina ski resort. What began with roughly 800 participants now draws crowds estimated between 10,000 and 40,000 across its second-weekend-of-June gathering.

On May 19 and 20, 1973, around 800 participants from seven cities gathered on the shore of Lake Ilmen near Miass, in the Southern Ural foothills of Chelyabinsk Oblast, for the first Ilmensky Festival of Author's Song.
