Every spring, the Golden Mask brings the best productions from theatres across Russia to Moscow, pairing the country's top theatrical award with a festival built around its nominees. Founded in 1993, it covers the full range of stage art -- drama, opera, ballet, contemporary dance, operetta and musical, and puppet theatre -- with performances staged at venues across the capital, including the Bolshoi Theatre, over roughly two months each year.
