KuZnya Jazz International Open-Air Festival in Novokuznetsk
KuZnya Jazz brings an international lineup of jazz, blues, folk and funk musicians to Novokuznetsk's historic Kuznetsk Fortress each summer for a free, family-oriented open-air festival. Founded and produced by Olga Baskakova through the city's Jazz Club Helikon, the festival pairs live music with craft stalls, dance floors, master classes and children's activities against the backdrop of a federally protected historic site.
Kuznetsk Fortress has stood guard over the Tom River for more than two centuries, built to defend a Siberian mining frontier that has long since given way to the industrial city of Novokuznetsk around it.
