CHAT International Solo Performance Festival in Omsk
Omsk's CHAT festival gathers solo theatre performances, or monoperformances, from across Russia and abroad each spring, staged in venues ranging from a chamber drama theater to a puppet theater and a children's arts center. Having recently gained international status after seven earlier editions, it now draws applicants from dozens of Russian cities as well as performers from countries such as Bosnia and Herzegovina, all built around the demanding one-actor format.
There is a particular kind of nerve required to hold an entire theatre production together alone, no scene partner to lean on, no ensemble to disappear into if a line goes wrong.
