His Majesty Theatre All-Russian Festival in Omsk
In March 2026, Omsk turned into a temporary crossroads of Russian theater as the inaugural His Majesty Theatre festival brought companies from Moscow, Lipetsk, Norilsk, Vorkuta, Tambov, and Tomsk to share stages with local troupes. Timed to Theater Day and the 150th anniversary of the Union of Theatre Workers of Russia, it drew more than six thousand spectators over ten days.
Omsk is not the first city that comes to mind when Russians talk about theater capitals — Moscow and St Petersburg dominate that conversation by default — but for ten days in March, the Siberian city argued otherwise.
