Perm Kamwa Ethno Festival in Perm

Kamwa is an ethno-futurist festival held in Perm that reworks Komi-Permyak, Udmurt and other Finno-Ugric folk traditions of the Kama river basin into contemporary art, fashion and music. Founded in 2002, it pairs folk ensembles and ritual craft demonstrations with electronic musicians, designers and filmmakers, staging performances on open-air grounds along the Kama and in the city's cultural venues each summer.

Perm sits on the Kama river, at the western edge of the Urals, in territory that was home to Komi-Permyak, Udmurt and other Finno-Ugric peoples long before Slavic settlement pushed east.
