Grushinsky Festival in Samara

The Grushinsky Festival is Russia's most storied gathering of bard, or author song, musicians, traditionally held on the shores of the Mastryukovskie Lakes near Samara since 1968. Named for Valery Grushin, a young singer who drowned trying to save others on a camping trip, it is famous for its floating stage shaped like a guitar and a temporary tent city that, in peak Soviet years, drew crowds estimated well into six figures.
