An interregional multiformat open-air festival on the Volga riverside embankment in Samara, running since 2016 and combining large-scale public art, music, literature, and creative-industry programming for a general family audience across two full days each June, grown out of a curatorial idea first proposed in 2011.

VolgaFest first appeared in Samara in 2016, but the idea behind it dates back five years earlier, to when curator Marat Gelman visited the city in 2011, the same year Samara joined Russia's Cultural Alliance network of cities pursuing contemporary cultural development.
