Les Blues du Fleuve in Podor/Matam river towns
Les Blues du Fleuve is an annual December music gathering in Podor, the Senegal River town where singer Baaba Maal was born. Over three nights, touring artists share the stage with local Fouta Toro musicians in an intimate riverside setting, tying live performance to Maal's rural development work along the river.
Podor sits on an island in the Senegal River near the Mauritanian border, a small Fouta Toro trading town of around 15,000 people that most visitors to Senegal never see.
