Srem Folk Fest in Sremska Mitrovica
Srem Folk Fest is an international folklore festival in Sremska Mitrovica, staged since around 2004-2005 on an open-air stage among the ruins of the ancient Roman city of Sirmium. A CIOFF member since 2015 and under Serbian UNESCO commission patronage since 2019, it draws around eighteen to twenty ensembles from a dozen countries each August.
Sremska Mitrovica sits on the remains of Sirmium, once one of the four capitals of the late Roman Empire, and it is among those same ruins that the city now stages Srem Folk Fest, an international folklore festival organized by the Centre for Culture SirmiumArt.
