Interetno Festival Subotica in Subotica
Interetno Festival Subotica, organized jointly since 2002 by the Nepkor Hungarian Cultural Center and Hungary's Summerfest with the Subotica municipality, gained CIOFF and UNESCO-linked status in 2019. Held each August in a purpose-built festival village called Etnopolis, it combines international folk performances with a crafts bazaar selling items including handmade silk candies and decoupage work.
Subotica sits close enough to the Hungarian border that its Hungarian minority community has long shaped the city's cultural life, and Interetno Festival Subotica grew directly out of that connection.
