Zemplín Folklore Festival in Michalovce
Zemplinske slavnosti in Michalovce is the longest-running folklore event in the Zemplin region of eastern Slovakia, held on the town square with a six-decade tradition. The festival gathers folk ensembles from Zemplin and neighboring areas, including foreign guests, for a multi-day program of song, dance, craft demonstrations and creative workshops.
Michalovce is the principal town of Zemplin, a district in Slovakia's far east where Slovak, Rusyn and Hungarian communities have lived alongside one another for generations, producing a folk culture that blends elements from each.
