Cow Ball Bohinj in Bohinj
Kravji Bal, the Cow Ball, has celebrated the return of shepherds and cattle from Julian Alps summer pastures to Bohinj since 1954. The weekend builds from dairy tours and folklore in Stara Fuzine to a Sunday parade of decorated cattle through Ukanc, watched by thousands.
Each September, the Bohinj valley marks the end of the alpine grazing season with Kravji Bal, the Cow Ball, a three-day festival built around a genuine agricultural event rather than an invented theme: the seasonal return of cattle and their herders from high summer pastures in Triglav National Park back down to the valley floor.
