Franja Marathon Festival in Ljubljana
The Franja Marathon, first held July 22, 1982, is a cycling event honoring the Franja Partisan Hospital, a secret World War II field hospital hidden in the Pasice gorge near Cerkno that was never discovered by German forces. Since its founding, more than 150,000 cyclists from over 80 countries have completed the ride.
The Franja Marathon carries one of the more remarkable historical stories behind any cycling event in Europe.
