Ljubljana Jazz Festival in Ljubljana

The Ljubljana Jazz Festival, established in 1960, is the oldest continuously running jazz festival in Europe. Held annually over three to four days at the end of June, it has been organised since 1982 by Cankarjev dom, Slovenia's national cultural centre, and brings internationally recognised jazz and improvised music performers to venues across Ljubljana, including Cankarjev dom's concert halls, its adjoining park, and the historic Križanke complex.

The Ljubljana Jazz Festival was founded in 1960 by Jazz Society Ljubljana, at a time when jazz in socialist Yugoslavia carried a particular cultural charge as one of the more accessible channels through which Slovenian audiences and musicians engaged with Western artistic movements.
