The Maribor Theatre Festival, known as Borštnikovo srečanje, is Slovenia's principal national theatre festival, organized by the Slovene National Theatre Maribor since its 1966 founding as the Week of Slovenian Theatres. It showcases the year's leading Slovenian productions and awards the Borštnik Ring, the country's highest lifetime honor for stage actors.

In 1966, at the initiative of theatre artist Fran Žižek, then director of the Maribor Drama, a new event called the Week of Slovenian Theatres in Maribor brought together productions from stages across the country for the first time under one roof.
