Planica Ski Flying Festival in Planica

Planica, in the Julian Alps below the Ponce mountains, is the sport's spiritual home for ski flying, hosting the Ski Jumping World Cup finals and repeated world records. It has hosted FIS Ski Flying World Championships multiple times, drawing over 10,000 spectators each competition year.

Few sporting venues can claim nearly a century of continuous world-record history, but Planica, a valley in the Julian Alps beneath the Ponce mountains, has hosted ski flying's defining record jumps since the discipline's earliest years.
