Up the Creek in Swellendam/Breede River
Up the Creek is an outdoor music festival held on the banks of the Breede River near Swellendam, in the Western Cape. Established in 1990, it is South Africa's second longest-running outdoor music festival, running each February and drawing a loyal community of repeat attendees who call themselves Creekers.
Up the Creek was established in 1990, making it one of South Africa's oldest continuously run outdoor music festivals, according to its own organizers second only to one other event still operating in the country.
